We see a lot of these articles every day praising illegal immigration. How about creating a google group with volunteers that will pick up such similar articels and post a rebuttal, either online or through another website?
The one we discussed yesterday was about how illegals contribute to the economy by paying $1.5 Billion in income tax for an estimated 15-20 million illegals.
This was estimated from the 2010 Census data.
We could initially post these rebuttals online on probably a section of the IV website and also send it to other news sites.
People who are good at parsing excel/MDB, csv sheets will be useful.
Most people are not aware of our issues and contributions to society.
Good idea.
What we need is:
1- A document about the economic impact legal immigrants are making (H1, L1, EAD etc). It should include estimates of Federal, state, SS tax and sales taxes. You can also include estimates how we can impact economy by buying houses. Use the research document used by another organization someone posted yesterday to understand how such documents are written. Get some number crunchers and people with good writing skills in your team. There was a google group created by GC_peshwa yesterday. I think this group could do such proactive work. Set your timelines and work on it. You can post updates of your group on the forum so that others know about it and can join if interested. Once you finish the document, it can be sent as a release and also sent to reporters and lawmakers.
2. This group can also work on your idea from the post by posting on other news sites.
I think these are the kind of action items our community must be doing proactively. What we see on forums and websites are people wasting time on trackers, useless discussions on anti H4, EB2EB3, Andhra, spillover fights, pulling each other down etc. Such shameful posts either shows that these people do not really care about greencard issue or are just plain ignorant. Very rarely do we see someone thinking beyond their own case and PD. This is the main reason in my opinion why everyone is suffering from backlogs. It is not the fault of USCIS or government or any one else. The reason is each one of us that thinks narrowly and has chosen to accept the problem rather than doing something about it. As IV members it is our responsibility to help make people aware and urge them to work together on something meaningful that would help the community.
Thanks for taking this initiative. Good luck. Let us know whenever you need help. Others that are interested should express interest on the thread and join the group.

Latina: If you are correct then, since it is mentioned in so many posts that IV should achieve a non country quota, it should be clear for us (Rest of the World) category that this won't affect our waiting time; because if you are right that the Sernior voices were never advocating that the Worldwide Category will suffer any delays, it gets confusing after reading so many junior posters talking about not having a per country quota (just one line), that for newbies like me it is not crystal clear, of course I am all for the unused portion of the numbers for Worldwide category going to skilled immigrants from non worldwide rather than to anybody else.

Check this article at:
http://www.wesh.com/money/13616272/detail.html
At the bottom they made the following completely ignorant statement:
"The State Department said the employment visa numbers are no longer available because resources are being used to reduce the backlog of passport applications."
So much for media taking this seriously...
Isn't this a lie? Didn't the release from the State Department say that the reason was sudden backlog reduction efforts from USCIS? Why do they have to lie about this?
They may think that once they mention that they were doing this for the sake of Americans, they could get away with it. NO WAY!
We should let the media, esp. this station, know the truth.
Outrageous!

Yes , the employer is Desi. who else can do something like this ?
After 6 months, can't we simple change employer on H1B and fire the previous attorney and ask him to send all the documents to the new attorney?
Can USCIS send a duplicate receipt notice to our home address on our request?

Hi Prinive,
I too am in the same club, having a priority date of Sept 2001. I am still awaiting my I-140 approval, filed in March 2007.
Hoping things would be sorted out sooner rather than later....I am in EB-3....How about U??

I usually shy away from replying to what people have to say about legal immigrants as I strongly believe that each person is entitled to his/her own views. Having said that, people like Communique (not directed at you, but using your name as you seems to be the most vocal), don't seems to realize that it is in the interest of this country to have well educated legal immigrants. I just hope that the opponents of the legal immigration realize that each legal immigrant (at least in the EB category) is very well qualified and they are doing to job which has been advertised for a period of at least 30days and no legal resident was found to be qualified for it.
The question is very simple, why would you NOT want such a person to be a legal immigrant to your country? Only if you are xenophobic would you be opposing such immigrants. Why would you want to put a million roadblocks in the path of such people? Instead of trying to run them out the country by frustrating their efforts to immigrate and denying them the basic rights like ability to accept a promotional, receive a higher pay, etc. shouldn't you be welcoming such immigrant who add value to this country?
There are so many "whys" that I could ask a person who opposes legal immigrants. Like I said before, this is my train of thought and belief, if you don't buy it then you are entitled to your. As long as you can rationally justify it to yourself that is all that matters.

Dhundhun,
I hold high regard for your postings...but in the 765 manual, I could not find any such rule that you just mentioned..Here is an excerpt from Pg 9 of
http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-765instr.pdf
If your response to Question 16 is (c)(9) ....
Otherwise, if you filed your I-485 adjustment application with
a USCIS Service Center, you must file Form I-765 at the
Nebraska Service Center or the Texas Service Center,
depending on where you live (see the following addresses)......
Are you sure ??
I have recently moved from Ohio to Pennsylvania and am about to file for renewal. Thanks....
Where to send application? This is part of instructions describing Federal Code Section "8 CFR 274a.12" and where to send.
We understand that http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-765instr.pdf is main reference.
This document also summarizes where to send EAD application: http://www.visapro.com/US-INS-Forms/Form-I-765.asp.
for (c)(9) I-485 pending
-- #1 Either Service Center with jurisdiction over your residence (NSC or TSC)
-- #2 or Local Office - depending on where your case is pending
The #1 is consistent with http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-765instr.pdf. I am confused about it #2 and perhaps my interpretation is not correct. NSC and TSC is not Local Office. As long as case is with NSC and TSC, we may need to send I-765 based on juridiction.
I have other observation also: http://www..com/discussion-forums/i765-1/121036147/last-page/
People are filing based on #1 and #2 above and it has been going OK. Seems that USCIS is able to process regardless.

[QUOTE=sammas;1967354]Probably the RFE might be related to photos not being sent. A friend of mine received a RFE for not sending the photos eventhough they are not required to be sent but he did not get any Biometrics notice. [QUOTE=sammas;1967354]
Sammas, May be it was lost in the mail, so your friend did not receive and the USCIS issued an RFE.

The fear is of USCIS rejecting the secondary application (due to insfficient evidence -wedding certificate)
My wife cant leave the country as I dont hold a VISA now........I have a GC. Without both of us going to India we cant possibly get it as we never registered our wedding. She cant leave US coz we dont have AP and even if apply for AP now (which we ll do) it will take 90 days to get AP.
If USCIS rejects the application we ll have to leave US even after I have got my GC and I dont know how long will it take for my wife and kid to get GC once we are in India.

If you were a donor member you could have asked IV to help you. They helped people with EAD delays by talking to USCIS.
