Why do you assume this is an indian website and everyone can understand hindi. This website has a purpose and if people like you write in hindi you will annoy a lot of people.
Nice poem or whatever!
Since I liked it, I will translate it in english for those who don't understand Hindi.
BE HAPPY ....
Life is short, every moment be happy
At office be happy, at home be happy
no cheese today, eat bread be happy
no time for gym, walk 2 steps and be happy
no friends, watch tv be happy
can't go back home, call home be happy
somebody is angry with you, even enjoy this and be happy
whom you can't see, listen to their voice and be happy
whom you can't get, in memories of them be happy
Keep thinking of doing MBA, in SW be happy
didn't get laptop from office, at desktop be happy
yesterday is gone, in its memory be happy
tommorrow is uncertain, dream about it and be happy
smile and laugh, in today be happy
Life is short, every moment be happy

I was just quoting that there may be legitimate reasons but this is not a good reason...
Sorry, but I have to disagree. I don't think there is such thing as "legitimate" reasons to take your own life. What is more legitimate that the other is something very subjective, and if you believe there even exist "legitimate" reasons, then you can always fall into the mistake of thinking that something minor, which you can easily overcome, is "legitimate" just because of your current state of mind and spirit.

Is it possible to file I-485 without I-693(Medical) ?
The reason I ask is that I cannot get a doctor's appointment in July. For some reason, if we are able to file in July, can I submit the 485 first and submit teh I-693 later.
Please advise
NO WAY.

A few days I called Comcast to disconnect CNN and CNN headlines from my cable. The Comcast representative was surprised as to why I want to cut CNN. She transferred me to her supervisor. The supervisor noted down my complaint and said that he will get back to me in 3 business days. Next day I got a call from Comcast that they will block CNN entirely from my cable. I thanked them as I will not have bigotry coming into my house anymore.

Agreed. In addition, you don't have sword of VISA status hanging on you every morning when yuo wake up.
I can not convince my self about one would not get job forever. Few of my friends struggled for jobs for about six to ten months but then they actually got good jobs and that is even in industrail engineering area with indian experience.
Yes, thats what I am saying, too. Some of our friends perhaps had to look for a job longer, but some are even with the same comp for years and years, just reg 9-5 IT job, one guy is Sys admin, the other is programmer. I know it sounds unbelievable but no one complains about workload, having to sacrifice qaulity time with their familes, paying too much in taxes or car insuarance or similar. Moreover, they can afford to have vacation twice a year and they all have families, purchuased real estate and the likes.
In fact, in my home-country, coming to the US on H1 visa and then getting EB green card is literary unheard off. Very very few souls came via that route and not all succedded in getting their GC
The way things are right now is that my husband is married to his job, BECAUSE of VISA status sword, working overtime, sometime 24/7, not having time for his family and rather unsatsfied with the quality of life.
But then, that is nothing new, right? Everyone here is in the same boat.

By the way, friends, I stay behind my words. Last year my family and I started working on "plan B" and when time comes, we will move out of the US after 6-7 years chasing of a mirage. Of course, if the GC mess here miraculously improves we would stay but I must be crazy to really believe that.
Anyhow, everyone has to choose individually to stay and wait or to "vote with the feet". We all know it is a tough and painful decision but for me this is like a rotten tooth - the sooner you get rid of it, the better. Just my way of thinking.
Our "flirt" with the US immigration system resembles very much the unshared love - you love a girl and do everything for her but she is a spoiled bitch and just plays with you. Some people will never stop circle around this girl but other will finally get pissed off, will say the f-word and will move with their lives. Suddenly these people will discover that there are lots of other girls, honest and thrustforthy, who deserved to be loved. Voting with the feet... :-)

Hi Cobra,
Don't lose hope. Your will get your approval.
My wife and I went to India in Jan 2011. We both are on H1 and work for the same employer. My company is a 150+ employee IT firm. We both went separately for our Visa interview to Mumbai Consulate.
When my wife appeared for Visa stamping, she was asked questions about her job, education and company. After her interview, the consular gave her the 221g form that requested all the employer details (tax returns, audit statements etc. ). So when I reached India, I carried the documents for my wife and similar set for myself. She appeared for the interview again and after reviewing the documents the consular approved her visa. Our immigration lawyer mentioned that it might take 2-3 months - but this was quicker than we initially assumed.
When I appeared for the Visa India, I was asked questions about my education and how am I on my 7th year of my H1. Once the consular noticed that I have filed GC and the 7th year extension is due to my I-140 approval, she issued me a 221g form and mentioned that my case is taken in administrative processing. They didn't give any turnaround time for the processing. However, I received email from consulate after 4 days to submit my passport and my visa was approved.
I noticed this has happened with most of the friends I know were visiting India for stamping. And the 221g form is issued to anyone, irrespective of IT or Non IT field, Small or Multi-billion Corporation. A friend of mine who is working in biggest telecom got 221g, another one working for Research Hospital for 221g, then one in a Biotech firm and in Manufacturing firm - all non IT got 221g
It will take it's course and you should get your approval. All the Best !!!
Regards,
GreenMe

What if you have to leave the job before 180 days, about after 150 days? When I say you have to that means there is no alternative. Employer-Employee issues. Quite a few folks here might be aware of it. But anyway, I read that USCIS will consider 180 days based on the I-485 'Received Date' and I-140 'Revoked date' will be the date USCIS act on the letter they receive from Employer requesting to revoke I-140 not the date employer will send letter to USCIS. I'm aware that there is no specific guidelines of which date USCIS will consider as 'Revoked date', but I heard USCIS mentioned verbally in many conference that they consider I-140 'Revoked date' as when USCIS act on the letter they receive from employer. Any thoughts?

DL is issued in CO upto the validity of your I-94, which is fine.
So, for each H1 renewal or extension, you have to queue up in DL office. Also, for dependents visa holders (H4), before you go to DL office, you have to go to SS office, get a letter from them that a SSN cannot be and will not be issued. Such a hassle.
In FL, it is being extended to only 1-94 date.

Read this!!!!! they did not use all the recaptured visas from last time
http://www.dhs.gov/xlibrary/assets/statistics/publications/LPR_FR_2007.pdf
The large num-ber of LPRs in the employment preferences in 2005 was primarily due to the American Competitiveness in the 21 Century Act of st2000 (AC21). This Act resulted in the recapture of 130,107 unused employment-based visa numbers from 1999 and 2000 to be made available to first, second, and third preference employment-based immigrants once the annual limit had been reached. Approximately 94,000 of those recaptured visa numbers were used in 2005, none were used in 2006, and 7,312 were used in 2007.
In 2007, the number of employment-based preference immigrants exceeded the above limit. This was due to provisions of the REAL ID Act of 2005
that allowed the recapture of 50,000 unused employment-based
visas (4,743 of these visas were used in 2007) and provisions of the American Competitiveness in the 21st Century Act of 2000 that
permitted the recapture of 130,107 visas (7,312 of these visas were used in 2007).

Most of the problems will be resolved after making legislation on the 2 options which can be easily done.
1. Remove 7% per country cap and come with more scientific number based on the H1B approvals since 2000 to get more weight to India, China, Philippines and Mexico.
2. Throw the unused numbers wide open at the end of Fiscal year based on Priority Dates. No country cap in this case.
3. Keep one Visa number per family. This one is tough to get pass through House and Senate.
The first 2 options are more feasible and can be done quietly without much political and public confrontation.

Hello All ,
My application for i485 , i765 and i131 was recvd in Lincoln,Nebraska on July 23 , 2007. (Sent by my company's attorney on July 21) . I have been waiting for over 2 months for any updates or receipt notice but nothing so far . After reading some forums in this website , i called USCIS (number from USCIS website) and got my case escalated to an officer who asked my last name ,first name , date of birth and coutry of birth . He gave me all the three receipt numbers for AOS , AP and EAD . All the receipts numbers are starting with WAC meaning the cases were xferred from Nebraska to California Service Center . When i looked at online status of i485 case , it says the case is xferred to Nebraska since it is in their jurisdiction . The other two cases for EAD and AP are pending . I still have not recvd any receipt notices from my attorney . So , i guess everyone who is waiting for their receipt notices might want to call USCIS and get their numbers .
