Could not understand what you mean by 'these 485s are still unadjudicated'. Of-course yes, that's why the dates are moved further so that they can get adjudicated.
Again 'Once they get adjudicated there would be retrogression' what do you mean? If they all get adjudicated then what is the reason of retrogression again? Am I missing something here? May be we can take it like this, depending upon the volume of the approvals, the dates will go back, higher the approvals, lesser the retrogression.
I do not want to spoil the party fun but somewhere in my mind there is a lingering doubt. I read Ron Gotcher's post about August 2008 bulletin.

I agree with sri1309. This would stop the bleeding of the economic crisis. Folks just wont stop by buying house alone, they all will be motivated to spend more money. guys, our folks most of them are well positioned with good paying jobs and pay and the only reason for not spending and not buy houses are because of the insecurity of the stay due to the h1b extension.
We all to some extent know that this whole mess is due to the deregulation of the financial institiution and because of which high supply of houses ( SUPPLY and DEMAND. Immigration is the best option. The name check takes 2 years anyway, making a mockery of fast processing times. Even VSC, which is the slowest, takes less than 2 yrs for 485.

I am not a qualified attorney but based on my experience I have seen that 3 Yr degree are hard sell. There have been instances where people have been able to get their way but thats an exception not a norm. Same with PG Diploma. CIS does not consider that as an addition to your undergrad. If the PGD is unaccredieted then its going to be even more tough to sell. If you want to play safe you need to get a undergrad degree here (4 Year one) All other options might hit road block and add to your woes.

Its weird but found out the reason for LUD change. I had done address change in June 1st week. But didn't get any notice from USCIS. All the hard LUD and wrong message of case transfer was due to the confirmations we got in mail about the address change.
But intrestingly got soft lud on mine and husband's 485 today morning. Don't know what is happening. We have applied for my husband's EAD renewal . But his EAD application had already soft LUD after Finger printing. These LUDS are after almost a week and on 485.

My I485 is pending, recently I have changed my address online. I also recieved confirmation letters for this address change.
After 2 weeks of address change, USCIS issued an RFE. I have not yet received it, but I just want to prepare for this.
What could be the reason for this RFE? Is it common?
I have seen changing address triggered RFEs in some cases where an applicant moved out of state or even to a new city within the same state. In such cases, RFE was asking for proof of employment in the same or similar role.

My wife's and my labor took four years to approve .. H1 usually took anytime from 60 -90 days everytime ..

Yes, I honestly think that quantity matters in meeting politicians. What is so clear to us may not be clear to them. Not because they are lesser mortals than us, they have a different perspective. Why and How is entirely not up to me to worry about. Someone has a different view and I can only respect that view. I cannot, and do not, think that I must invest my time in brainwashing anyone. I wouldn't call it a crab mentality either without knowing them personally.
With that said, let me be a devils-advocate, if you will, and ask these questions:
Given ours is a issue-based, goal-based struggle, with Goal & Issue being same for ALL EB immigrants:
--- Why should I expect all immigrants to wear any organization's badge, be dedicated to any particular/one organization, whether that Org is IV/Democrats/Republicans/Congress/BJP

You are dead right .. but a bigger contributing factor is the fact that a vast majority of GC applicants come from a small number of highly populated labor-surplus countries, with a virtually infinite stream of young people itching to land here even if we go back ... the demand from our home countries is as big an issue as our reluctance to go back. Thats why you see corporates lobbying heavily for H1-B visas, but not as much for EBs.Simple supply and demand.
But, this game isnt going to go on forever. Those people who want to come here are not idiots. The prime reason so many students and skilled workers choose to come here rather some other developed country is because of the possibility of settling here .. when this turns out to be a mirage and word spreads about our plight, the trend will reverse dramatically. The only question is how soon .. we are definitely in a position to accelerate that.

I like your optimistic attitude but unfortunately I don�t share it because of past and current behavior of USCIS, like for instance how they willfully disregarded the 180 day name check memo. Do you really believe them when they say name check will be cleared in 2009, just like the current name check memo the fbi name check clearance will be thrown in a dustbin. If by a miracle name check is solved they will come up with some other check delay for example IBIS name check delay. the bottom line is if there is a will there will be a way, USCIS has no will what so ever to help us. Good luck to everyone but just build a reservoir of patience because if you have hope on USCIS you will pay dearly.

Another helpful "negative feedback" is the trend of GC applicants stuck in the system moving out of the US. Understandably, most immigrant are reluctant to take this tough step but the trend is here and it grows like a snowball.

7th year extension was instituted as part of AC21 - which was a major immigration package backed by the tech industry (somewhat like SKIL) including the provision to increase H1-B quota to 195K. Point being unless there is some powerful godfather for such a bill - whether it is big business or the pro-illegal alien lobby , congress is not going to prioritize some piecemeal legislation just to give us relief. Right now the tech industry is pushing hard for SKIL while the illegal alien lobby is pushing hard for CIR. Our best hope is to ride either of these bills .. and I am sure core team is always on the lookout for any other bills that we can possibly hitch on to. Just that its not all that easy to do.
I think it was Collin Powell that help passed the 7th year extension and one year extensions there on if LC is pending for a year..this was passed since there was a crisis with delay in LC adjudications....so we are at a point that we need such a relief soon...we are heading towards such a crisis point..soon...
