I did not feel like signing along for two reasons: we are not US citizen yet, and I consider myself citizen of the world and will always be. I do not aspire to become citizen of the United States of America.
Even when Americans sang their national anthem in a church, I felt not right. Churches are not supposed to be linked to states. There should be no country boundary with in the Christian world.
There should be no country boundary within the world we want to be build either. If the United States go to war with your country of birth, who will you side with? Will the United States trust you?
You have a point - yes, we are all different nationalities, as a matter of fact we even waved the American Flags.
The only reason I can see is - we have embraced America. Here we are fighting a political battle and we do not even have the right to vote.

If the minister talks to the US President regarding VISA retrogression problem,How the outside world will come to know ? The discussions will be kept confidential ! I don't think everything will be disclosed to the press. VISA revalidation is another thing he can talk to US Secretary of State.
I have seen a lot of ridiculous ideas suggested on this forum, but this one takes the cake and icing too.

if you think you can file I-485 with 2 I-140s and USCIS would let you use PD from one and Category from other. THOUGH LEGAL BUT FORGET IT.
DO NOT DO THIS. I TRIED IT AND GOT SCREWED. USCIS DO NOT DO CROSS REFERENCE OF I-140 THOUGH THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO.
Champu,
What is the basis of I-140 priority date? is it when the I-140 was filed or when it got approved?
Here is an EXAMPLE for you and to everyone else to understand easily:
I-140 filed Jan 6 2006
I-140 approved Feb 6 2007
is the PD Jan 6, 2006 or feb 6 2007?

You are a citizen of one of the countries listed below, and the worker on whose record your benefits are based lived in the U.S. for at least 10 years or earned at least 40 credits under the U.S. Social Security system.
Thats the confusing part
This seems to indicate someone else will get benefit payments but not the worker himself / herself.

Just got back (I am from NC, went by Bus from RTP).
Attending the Rally felt really good. We are legal and we should have spoken up long ago!
IV effots and organization was great!
It was seriously expecting more people though. That was really sad ! So many banners & signboard... but not that many people.
I doubt if the count was greater than 1500...

Hey Everyone,
My brother is a US citizen who has filed an I-130 for me and my family in May, 2008. We've traveled to the US on B1/B2 visas in February, 2009. The thing about it is that in the DS-156 form point "36. Has Anyone Ever Filed an Immigrant Visa Petition on Your Behalf?" we've answered "No". I've had no idea at that time that it was referring to the petition for alien relative. Anyways, we've returned back home in time. Also, I've had 3 visas before (2 tourist and 1 student) and never violated any immigration laws.
Then in December, 2009 we've applied for F-1 visa and got denied. This time it was a DS-160 form that we filled out which replaced the old DS-156 form. It didn't have that question about the petition anymore. I think they've decided to exclude it because a lot of people were confused by it. Anyways, the consulate officer didn't like the fact that I haven't transferred my credits from 2 courses of University that I've completed in my home country. Plus my major differed from my previous education course.
So my question is. Is it ok to apply for F-1 visa while I-130 is pending? I mean we've been issued B1/B2 visas before. Even though we've answered "No" to that question, they saw that I had a brother in the US who is a US citizen. I'm thinking of transferring my credits and using same major course this time or at least similar. This way in the eyes of the consulate officer it will look as I am going to the US to finish my education. The thing is, I am planning to attend community college first in order to finish general courses and then transfer to the university. My major in my home university was physics and this community college doesn't have it. I may go with "general education" course at the community college and explain to the consulate officer my situation.
Is it even legal to apply for F-1 visa while I-130 is pending? I believe so. My another question is. Once I finish education. What's the next step would be? Will it be easy to transfer from F-1 to H1B visa while I-130 is pending? What about my wife and a baby who will be on F-2 status? Please share your thoughts. Thank you!
hello,
Generally speaking, F-1 is a visa with pure non-immigrant intent. By filing I-130, your brother showed you intend to immigrate to the U.S. As such, most likely F-1 can't be approved. If you said NO when they asked if anyone ever filed an immigrant petition for you, you may be held accountable for committing fraud for immigration purposes. If USCIS realizes you lied on your non immigrant petition, you may become inadmissible and deportable. Consequently, I would consult with an attorney before applying for F-1. Hope this helps.
Under current immigration law, one cannot be issued a non-immigrant visa which carries no dual intent, if one intends to immigrate to the U.S. If you had answered YES on your DS-156, the consular officer would have no legal basis to issue to you a tourist visa.
Best Wishes,

Congrats to Goan2005.
For a lot of others it's a long wait. Unless you used substitution labor to jump the line, increasing the Visa numbers, elimination of country quotas is your only hope. IV is the only organization/movement working for it.
Be part of the movement to get those LUDs in your case. Real status is - 'Case Approved'. Rest all are passe. Work for the real thing.

I can create a spreadsheet on thinkfree.com or any other collaboration site with information about monthly or recurring contributions
All those who have contributed please send me the details via private message so that this thread does not get swamped - I will work on it next weekend.
Thanks ramaonline for your help. Instead of relying on PMs lets open a new thread... The PM folder may overflow -- I think opening a new thread and asking contributing members to respond will be a better idea. Should I open the thread?

I have two 797s:
1. Valid from Feb 2006 to June 04th 2007
2. June 05th 2007 to June 04th 2010
I went to India in Mar 07 and got the stamping till 2010. The old visa stamping was from prev employer and already got expired. The new visa stamp has both 797 Receipt #s and effective dates. Had I got my visa stamping after June 2007, everything would be cool and dandy. As I got the stamping before the current one expired and came into US before the current one expired, I was given and I-94 that ends on June 04th 2007. As this I-94 is the latest, I feel that this invalidates my other I-94 I got in my new 797. I left a VM to my lawyer. Hope he gets back and I am looking into applying for my H1B extension. This sucks :(
Her visa stamp was expiring on 15Feb07 and she entered US in Dec'06 and she was carrying the extended H4 I-797 valid till 2009. The officer at POE gave the I-94 valid only till 15Feb07. I did lot of research and found the last action on I-94 invalidates the previous ones. So her I-94 was valid only till 15Feb07. I went to the local CBP office and the officer understood what I'm talking about. He took copy of I-94 and issued a new I-94. He faxed it to some company which keeps the I-94 database.
So if possible it's better to go in person and explain. My 2 cents.

I e-filed my AP recently.
I then sent my supporting documents to the address they gave. The interesting thing is that they actually give in the address - e-filed 1-131. This presumably passed the intial mailroom stuff.
I also got my receipt number instantly and the notice is mailed to me. It can also be tracked online.
Now I wait to see whether e-filing is quicker or not. Maybe not, the only thing I can say is that I got my receipt !

Does this forum software have a buddy list / block list feature?
I have seen this on other forums and the block list might be a nice feature to help block irrelevant people / messages. :o
This may even stop some of the fights

I signed contract on my house and now looking for a mortgage. Im looking at eLoan, LendingTree, credit union and a few banks/lenders listed in Bankrate.com.
I would appreciate if you can share any information regarding any of the lenders, your experience dealing with them or any other useful information which will help me make a informed decision.
Im at Houston, TX.
If you are one of them who would like to remind me its not an immigration related question.Im an immigrant and I have a question.so would it make it a immigration related? :)
Thanks for your time.
Bank of America has a great program called No-Fee Mortgage Plus (http://http://www.bankofamerica.com/loansandhomes/index.cfm?template=lc_mortgage). It does not charge some of the fees - like the appraisal fees, etc + reasonable, competitive rates. They also guarantee to get all of the closing done within a certain period of time, which they usually beat by at least a couple of days! We have our mortgage with them presently. There is also Sallie Mae Home Loans (http://https://www.smhl.com/index.html)! We had our first home loan with them, but then they sold it to AmTrust Bank (http://https://www.amtrust.com/Personal/Pages/home.aspx) formerly known as Ohio Savings Bank. Our rates or anything else did not change. We live in AZ.
You should window-shop around as much as you can, but remember to initiate all of your inquiries within a 2-week period - so it is counted as a single hit on your credit history!
Discussing all aspects of mortgage - there is an excellent resource, The Mortgage Professor (http://http://www.mtgprofessor.com/) ! As immigrants, we have to share all info we can, the kind of info that is usually shared between family/ friends if you stay where you were born!
Good Luck with your mortgage-search and with your immigration, too!

possible reason for mysterious rejections :
You are a mail room guy, you go home friday (06/29) and comeback on monday (06/02).
You start the monkey business of timestamping incoming mail, but half an hours into the day (around 8 or 9:00 am), you realize "sshhttt: i did not change the date on my stamp, its still read 06-29-2007". In the classical govt. fashion, you do not bother to go back and restamp the applications with the correct datetime. Not because you are evil, but because you simply don't understand the ramifications of early stamping. You think u are doing the guy a favor, putting him/her early in line.. but guess what... the guy's application is gonna get rejected.
Could this be the case with some apps mysteriously being rejected?
WAAV GREAT LOGIC!!!! HOW COME I CANT THINK THIS WAY TO SOLVE THIS MISTERY. WAAV GENIUS IS HERE. YOU THE MAN. MAN U R VERY SMART. THATS IT. THATS HOW IT HAPPENED. UR IQ MUST BE VERY HIGH.
