I think, if at all Minister is being planned to be met , it is better only few problems are presented to Minister.
PROBLEMS IN INDIA MAY DILUTE THE FOCUS. I think the following would be best to present ..
1) Retrogression.
2) Social Security Treaty.
Numbers justifying above data can do a lot good to explain the problem.
I think VISA retrogression problem can be addressed to the minister. That itself will give BIG relief to thousands of people from India.Make a special VISA Quota for India is another good option. Minister can suggest this option to the US Officials and Senators ! He is scheduled to meet some US senators in DC and NYC.
This is great opportunity for poeple living in Maryland and DC area. It is easy to go and meet him personally ! Think about it guys....

what is surprising is that most of the IVans predicted that the SEP VB will make the dates U for most categories and also the dates will retro. Also Ron Gotcher too predicted that the dates will retro.

My boss recently changed and the work environment is not good anymore (never imagined this would happen), I am in a constant pressure and no job security. It's a shocker in a fulltime state job.
We bought a house last year needless to say that the prices have fallen. We are now in a dazed state as we just realised we don't have any savings, whatever we had, we made bad choices - house, 2 cars (They looked good at that time though) and put about 10% on the house.
We were planning on to invest all our savings in the house as we recently paid off our two cars and no other debts. But after reading some posts here on the housing and investment market. I am not sure if I want to put everything in the house, having my job at risk and no GC yet.
Being a novice in fianancial matters, need advice.
Appreciate your thoughts on this.
Sorry to here the precarious condition you are living in. Try to be good to the person who is causing the pressure, cause most important of all right now is: You need the income. So, fighting with somebody is not a good idea and its going to hurt you, not the other person who is causing the pressure.
If the price of the house has fallen a lot, then its not a good idea to keep paying for the original price of the house. Talk to the bank, and ask what options you have.
Be prepared for the worst case scenario and start saving so that you have some buffer to make payments for at least 6 months, in case you lose your job.

I have used it. I-140 approved. Currently working on EAD. Got the letter from new employer mentioning title similar to both of my GC labor bassed application example: title: Title1(EB3 based - old app/Title2(EB2 based - New app). I will be using that letter to inform USCIS for my AC 21 usage. I am waiting for my lawyer to take that task into his hand.My both GC is based on different but close labor codes. Currently I have not decided to port PD to new file but once I decide the same letter will work for that as well. My letter just mentions title and salary and which department I am working and to whom I am reporting. According to lawyer there is no need to put "Job Description" at all in that letter. I originally got the letter with job description (matching both codes) but my lawyer advised me to remove "job description" and thus I had to take another letter.

You have an approved I-140, so the PD belongs to you.
Find a job that requires either an MS degree or BS+5 years experience (this could very well be your current job). File a new perm. When it's approved file for a new I-140 in EB2 attaching the copy of the old approved I-140 asking to capture that date.
Then attach your new I-140 with EB2 to your existing I-485 application.

I did not feel like signing along for two reasons: we are not US citizen yet, and I consider myself citizen of the world and will always be. I do not aspire to become citizen of the United States of America.

I got my first 'job' like a month ago (I'm 14) and the guy was fine with my age.
Two tips:
-You should tell the person how old you are before you start anything (the person might not want some 14 year old making him a site/movie/graphic).
-Not that you CAN'T speak slang, it's just better not to. I mean do what ever you want, it's just a suggestion.

1. Born in 70 but my birth was registered in 2005 when I wanted a birth certificate, BC issued in aug 2005 and says registered in 2005. Is it ok I use them or I need an affidavit also from my parents?
2. There is one letter written wrongly in my name.. can i send or get a new one??

Latina: If you are correct then, since it is mentioned in so many posts that IV should achieve a non country quota, it should be clear for us (Rest of the World) category that this won't affect our waiting time; because if you are right that the Sernior voices were never advocating that the Worldwide Category will suffer any delays, it gets confusing after reading so many junior posters talking about not having a per country quota (just one line), that for newbies like me it is not crystal clear, of course I am all for the unused portion of the numbers for Worldwide category going to skilled immigrants from non worldwide rather than to anybody else.

I want to start a new EB2 application but my manager is not willing. Actually, my labor is MS + 2 years but my attorney thought my I-140 will get rejected since I have included 1 month of internship in those 2 years of experience. I have masters + over 8 years of progressive experience. Working in the position over 6 years. Not blaming anyone just ranting because I don't want to change jobs now.

well..I have been waiting for my labor certifcation to get certfied for too long. just after Sep 11 I applied both for US GC and Canadian PR. My wife also applied for her GC. meanwhile her GC moved to regional when suddenly DOL thought it was time to regroup and there it went into BPC. In the meantime we got canadian PR some 2 years ago but we did not move thinking that we have jobs here.Then she got pregnant and lot of complications ( premature labor) and during those complications her company got acquired by another bigger firm who thought they don't need her..and result was job loss plus GC into the trash....meanwhile my labor certification even after 5 years was still sleeping in EB3 category(PD Oct, 2001) when i still have Masters( god knows why my lawyer put into that category)..Now my canadian PR was set to expire in march, 2007..so I thought i should decide fast..and i applied for jobs..and I got offer in vancouver with moving expenses paid from califronia..It has been the toughest decision because my employer is Indian here in california..and I have had good growth(10% average) but not the way I had wanted..I guess he also exploits..Indian exploiting another Indian..because they know I am not going anywhere..plus we work hard.. I asked him to match what was being offered in vancouver..and he started converting CAD into USD..well..it is not fair..So I have decided to heck with US and the Employer..and move on...at least I can come back..it is not an easy move because my son being premature child had lot of free facilities in california..hopefully he will get the same in Vancouver until he gets to 3 years ..and then it stops..
I have been in this country too long..and I guess one should settle down rather just wait for them to give GC...reading the other post about one lady whose EAD card got expired just tells me that how inconsistent this GC process can be and right until the end...

Haha. That is an accurate assessment at a 50-foot level. I was pretty disillusioned after a couple of years of working. A mixture of what the fuck am I doing, but not really knowing what to do, and all confused because I was at probably the biggest firm around and and a feeling of even if I switch, what's the point? And not having the balls to switch jobs, for the fear of throwing away what I had, mixed with personal struggles with life and not having the social life that I wanted.
In between all this, the desire to get the GC process kicked off came and went, esp. since I wanted to switch positions to a more people oriented role, and the feeling of gosh, do I want to stay in 6+ years in this job - maybe if I file, then I won't want to change jobs.
As you can see, even I am not sure what was going on there. But my personal life and acclimatizing has sorted itself out rather well of late, and I do want to stay here now that I have a really interesting life (and partly out of fear of throwing everything away and moving somewhere new).
Now, I know that IV is not a self-help trauma group, so I will cut short my story here, which has little to do with the raw facts of my immigration situation :)
And yes, I did not participate or know much about the visa process, or IV till recently, and am a recent need based participant, but I hope that does not stop anyone from contributing their ideas to help me out.
*** Also, to the previous poster (nojoke) who said that big companies usually hold off on perms, are you suggesting that I have a better chance at a smaller company then?
UPDATE: My company attorney suggested talking about this in April, and I am nervous about waiting till then in limbo - things are only going bad to worse, I might as well find a job at a place which will sponsor a PERM sooner rather than later.
I request you to PM me if you have any leads for such companies might still be a good bet for filing a PERM.
