If it were for some of the antiimmigrant folks, my friend you (sugaur) wouldn't be here a day longer. you would be "out" in a wink from this country. so dont consider yourself too supportive of anti-immigration. Even citizens are favoring resolving the ilegal immigration crisis by granting some legality to those who are here ilegally. Dont support ilegal immigration but atleast dont bash those who show support to resolving this crisis. you and me are mere temporary visitors here. please remember that your country is not this. you are here seeking prosperity and so are they. this country has a way of dealing with them and us and neither has been satisfactory so far. So my friend why side with one and sound righteous? Sympathy is universal and is shown even to the person going to be hanged. If ilegal immigration was such a big crime then why are the united states citizens debating about granting green cards to 11 million of these people here????? these people are neighbours and have been dependent on each other since ever.let us not meddle in their affairs. they assimilate better into the american culture than us.

We understand your frustration, but we would need some more info from you. Could you please look at the first post in this thread and send us your info.
We already have about 30 stories sent to us and the truth is we are in much better shape now when we go to meet senators. We can actually point out examples and not speak in general terms which makes them sit up and listen.

This interview EXPOSED how un-informed and careless and whimsical are IOs in handling cases. MEMO should have been framed on their desks/mind....we don't have to remind these guys. In one moment they can deny as important a petition as AOS and just in a flash second they can approve it. They won't make any effort to dig out relevant info. How do you come to these conclusions what congress intended. AC21's main provisions were to recapture unused visas for certain years; extend h-1b beyond six years; allow someone to change a job after 485 pending for more then six months; allow unused visas to be allocated to oversubscribed countries on a quarterly basis rather then in the fourth quarter.
I came to the conclusion just based on section INA 202 (a) (5) (A). Nothing more nothing less. You came to funny conclusion of "quaterly basis".
EMPLOYMENT-BASED IMMIGRANTS NOT SUBJECT TO PER COUNTRY LIMITATION IF ADDITIONAL VISAS AVAILABLE- If the total number of visas available under paragraph (1), (2), (3), (4), or (5) of section 203(b) for a calendar quarter exceeds the number of qualified immigrants who may otherwise be issued such visas, the visas made available under that paragraph shall be issued without regard to the numerical limitation under paragraph (2) of this subsection during the remainder of the calendar quarter.
You are critizising H1B indians and their employer screwing the system which is not relevent to what we are talking here. If you feel so, then attack who ever spoiling the system and regulate those. Instead you are trying to justify your interperataion is right and what DOS is doing is right. I will be the happiest person if they ban labor subsitution and ban desi consulting companies or H1B dependent employer participating in GC sponsering. Then this mess might have not happened.

Did anyone has got their names changed from the new york embassy.
scenario is as follows:-
Given name has both first name and last name
surname is empty.
I want to get it changed and on the embassy website, they are asking for an affidavit.
Anyone who has gone throught this process can they please share their experience and information.

I was recently (Sep 2009) at the Indian Consulate in New York for renewing my Passport.
My complete name <A B> is written in the passport on the surname line. The given name field is blank! So it is in the passport as:
surname: <A B>
given name:
I would like my new passport to have it correctly as
surname <B>
given name <A>
But the consulate has refused to do it without a notarized affidavit.
I did take the affidavit to my bank for notarization, but they were obviously clueless about the affidavit form and refused to notarize it.

Hi friends,
No doubt this is a great idea and also as newbie2020 suggests no point of wasting time and loosing the current tempo and massive support of IV members on this regard.
Would like to request all, is it possible to change the bridge schedule a bit to 9.00 or 9.30 PM EST so that it would be easier to participate for people who are in Pacific Time Zone? If most people have difficulty in doing that, lets move forward with the current schedule.

All that is needed is perhaps some sort of continued communication from the CORE. There hasn't been much activity - which is fine, but as long as the IV members know that CORE is alive and kicking - that is a big thing!

If you're worried, the easiest thing to do is to have the name changed in the passport. The Consulate doesn't ask for any questions and issues the new passport within a day. For my friend, the first name and the last name were interchanged and getting the new passport was a breeze.
So, u mean have to go to the consulate and get it done........ i dont think right now can take a chance of sending the passport to the consulate............. thnaks for your advice, will def. check with the consulate........

This is best at ppl things narrow minded , since you are EB2 you want to have this.. EB3 can port to EB2 then EB3 will never get spillovers.. and if you have latest PD you might get in to this issue... So prepare now for another admin fix. shouldnt we stop looking at bigger picture and start only on the smaller things like this ? Can you support with numbers how EB2 can get line cleared ? If that is true then there is no need of Recapture... becoz when EB2 goes current all numbers flow to EB3.
As gc_check explained, all EB2 with PD<2007/7 will get the green card 2 years earlier if this can be fixed. I do not understand why IV can not discuss it with USCIS.
