My H1 B expires this December. My lawyer has filed for extension. Looks like I will get my extension approved only in Jan. He mentioned that I can work on a pending H1-B extension for 240 days. Is this true? Also can I get my DL renewed using the H1-B receipt notice? Gurus please advise.

My 485, EAD and AP application received in NSC on AUG 2nd. My personal checks are not redeemed yet. I haven't received receipt numbers or EAD or FP.
But the USCIS receipting times states NSC is processing receipt notice for AUG 8th.
I don't know what's going on....
Do they transfer my case to TSC??? Because I am living in TX???
My employer office is in Illinois and my lawyer office is in Michigan.
My I-140 is filed on Mar'2007 and still pending in NSC.

you need to understand why we were in DC. you also need to think about what message we were sending. each person's philosophy about national anthems is not at issue here. this is a pointless discussion. frankly i am tired of people (i am one) that do not live in their countries but lose no opportunity to retreat in jingoistic nationalism. want want want...but no give?
if no one has serious objection, i will close this thread shortly. the above comments are not for any specific person/poster. just a general view.

I wonder on what basis did they advance the dates by whatever margin they did. No doubt, any positive movement (in hours, days ) is good but the consolidated database is not in place as I understand and so this seems pretty much a watershed. The dates might move with out any GC being issued :)

I am in 7th year of H1b now..last time my h1b was renewed dates were until April 2008. I went to india in Dec 2006 and came back in Jan 2007. My passport was expiring on Sept 29th 2007 so Immigration officer dated my I-94 until sept 29th 2007 and told me same thing that you can go to any port of entery or international airport and meet USCIS officer and extend your I-94 with your new passport. I waited until last moment and around sept 24th I went to USCIS officer on airport as well as on Port of Entry (called Deffered Inspection site). Both places got answer you need to file extention online because we only correct mistakes and this is not a mistake but it was case of passport expiration. I called my lawyer, my hr, my company lawyer. Everyone told me I cant work after 29th sept as my i-94 is expiring. Thats same as your H1 expiring. SO either leave country and comeback with new stamping or file new h1b. I ended up filing new H1b as i had only couple of days left before my I-94 would have expired. I have filed I-485 and ead and my I-140 is pending. My pd is Dec 2003. As per my lawyer I want be out of status as mY I-485 is pending but I will loose eligibility to work as I wont have any work authorization once my I-94 expires and dont have EAD approved on my hand. All this would only help the child continue to stay in US with a Legal Status.. But he/she would still be a dependent(H-4) that means cannot do any part-time job & at the same time pay higher tuition fees.. whereas the DREAM Act proposes to give GC status to the children of illegal immigrants.. seems a tad too unfair for those who abide by the law!

If Paul's hunch that we'll see the 1Ds' successor by September is correct, then we might see cheaper 1D-II bodies prior to that.
As for the Kodak, it certainly has the resolution, but it doesn't seem as if it's generating much enthusiasm. The 1Ds (with less pixels) OTOH has. Removing the very expensive anti-aliasing filter was probably not Kodak's greatest moment.

Right now we don't have any savings, paid off the car as of Oct 30th. I was trying to figure about the money which we are going to save from here on...I will take all your advice, sounds so logical and keep the emergency fund for 6 months aside.
Coming to the city we live, it's a small place in Florida and not many employment opputunities for techie people. Like I said I am working for state while my spouse is consulting and travels every week (can't find a job in his area). We never imagined a management change leading to a risky and frustrating job situation, making us to repent our buying a house. Because the moment I stop impressing this new boss, we are out. Huh...I don't want to imagine that, because we will be left with a house we can't sell or rent (don't know if some one would want to rent it) and have to move.

I have following in my receipt notice if I-765 receipt "Class requested : C09"
what does C09 means and is it correct type?
Also in my I-485 receipt after amount it says " Section : UNKNOWN" and priority date box is NULL.
Should I worry about theses?

Everybody in this forum knows this. Core IV is on top of these items and every IV member should have confidence that they will steer everyone in proper direction as and when required. Do not get panic and call for unncessary shots on this sensitive issue.
I am not sure when the CIR will pass...its not on Nancy Pelosi aganda in forseeable future... and several people already mentioned that if it didnt pass by MAY07 then you are looking at Jan 09 to get immigration stuff to happen...
I think we need to work on an interm EB relief bill ...which is absolutely non contraversial and try to pass it....not worring about piggy backing the CIR...
Issues such as h1 increase or adding more numbers need not be in it...we can include things like EAD after I-140...spouse/childer not considered for EB quota...etc...
Unless we act desissively now...its going to be a long way to 2009..

I was trying to find out if there are any other options to record my departure date and returning I-94 when I leave US by LAND.
Looks like the only option for people leaving by Land is to send the I-94 to "ACS - CBP SBU". In my case, I will have to send this along with details proving my stay in Canada after leaving US.

This is just a humour but has a meaning underneath if you try to understand. I am comparing USCIS to a product selling company. If USCIS was a TV selling company what would happen to the customers the way it acts ?

You need a VISA NUMBER available from DOS to get a TV from USCIS.
Right now Visa bulletin is not current, and how come you expect USCIS gives TV's...

No is the correct answer.. they are here as visitors (not residents - US tax returns are for US residents - tax return 101)
also they don't have SS# i presume, so how can you even think about adding them as dependents?

See the audit questions again, all relate to justifications that the requirements are really needed for the job advertised. ie. when the job ad said MS+2 Years is needed, DOL wants to know why this job requires MS+2 Years of experience. His lawyer is right, a more conservative approach to job requirements (MS+0 or BS+5 for EB2 is much more easier to defend). As you increase the minimum job requirements, it reduces the pool of available candidates who can apply for the job. DOL wants to make sure the minimum requirements are really valid, and not set artificially high simply to reduce the pool of candidates.
Basically your LC sponsor needs to be able to justify all requirements posted for the job (education, experience, specific skills) else you can be in trouble.
