What I'm confused about is how the movie downloads will be decent quality and not take FOREVER to download. If the quality is great, the download time is going to be ridiculous. If the quality is bad, no one would even consider buying it.
I would rather buy a 15 dollar DVD, rip it into my iPod and still have a DVD that looks good on my TV. That's just IMO.

Besides abolishing the ability of your graphics card, there are other interesting features of the processor. The hardware giant has confirmed that Sandy Bridge was designed with an integrated content protection to prevent piracy of high-end digital quality.

The store is noisy, so it is hard to say. To me neither was making a sound.
My 24" is dead quiet. I haven't heard the fans spin up once. That's including multi-hour gaming sessions and Video encoding.

How does streaming music to my iPhone help me, when O2 cap my Internet usage, and then charge when you use more.
Agreed. Apple doesn't need deals with record labels, they need deals with wireless carriers.

Apple still doesn't have upload to a cloud or wireless syncing, and Windows Phone does. 25 GB free sky drive, as well as a beautiful hub where you choose what to access at a glance. In iOS, you have to flick and flick, especially if you have many apps. The wireless syncing is slick. Facebook integration flawless. WP7 also now has cut, copy, and paste and HTML5 before the end of the year. I'm sorry, but hooking up with the largest mobile phone manufacture is a no brainer.

The fact that the new iMacs can't address more than 3Gb of memory and are therefore operating on a 32bit logic-board makes me doubtful as to whether or not these systems are really 64-bit capable... It seems like some kind of hybrid 32/64bit system.
Will the C2D iMacs be able to run 64bit code, despite not having the 64bit address space (and being able to access over 4Gb or RAM)?
I would expect so. I would think that userland apps will get a 64bit address space that's just mapped to 32bits in the kernel. But I've been known to be wrong before. :)

Considering that the iTS is like the 5th biggest music vendor, they sure suck at selling movies. 125k is nothing compared to real movie vendors.
Maybe when they get more than 75 movies. Amazon unbox started with like 2000 movies!
Are you serious? This is their first WEEK of doing it, what do you expect? And how many movies did Amazon sell in their first week? I'd bet it was less than Apple. Good selection won't overcome crappy implemenation.
I guess people value convenience over quality. That's great for Apple. That confirms it will be a success.
For me I rather buy DVDs or wait for hi definition downloads, but I guess many people out there are satisfy with lower quality.
From what I've heard, the quality is pretty close to DVD. Have you compared the two? What is your complaint about quality?
On my DSL connection, it took about 7 hours. I let it go overnight.
Not quite the 30 minutes that Steve promised.
He quoted that number on a 5M connection...is that what you have?
Maybe they could make iTunes let you start playing your TV show download before it's finished, like they let you do with movies?
I'd bet they already do, since the download engine in iTunes is redone. Can anyone confirm?

Samsung is a slightly larger company than Apple.
Slightly?
Samsung is a huge Conglomerate.
In fact they built one of these.

Wow, that seems pretty darn reasonable.
I was considering putting a 2.16 Core Duo in my currently Core Solo Mac mini. But now I'd much rather put the 1.83 Core 2 Duo in there for less than $200!

I posted this on the mini specs forum, but thought it would be needed here as well.
Are they already shipping then?
http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=2010Yes they are. But we are still looking for a second report to corroborate this report. This is the same report of 1.66GHz Core Duo instead of 1.5GHz Core Solo. What about this report of a silent mini update already in the pipeline on the French HardMac website? (http://www.hardmac.com/news/2006-08-31/#5869) :)
"I have ordered a Mac mini Core solo with 1GB of RAM last Saturday to use it as a server, and what a surprise when I received the box!
My Mac mini has been upgraded:
- Core Duo 1.66GHz instead of Core Solo 1.5GHz
- HD 100GB instead of 60GB
- and a SuperDrive instead of a Combo!
Thanks Apple !
On the box, the specifications are those of a Mac mini Core Solo..."Thank you.

since Apple lost their claim as the producer of the biggest LCD monitor in the market (30 inch behemoth), maybe Apple will use this event to announce 42 inch Apple Cinema Display.
and what happened to that Apple patent for thousands of small camera embedded on the LCD?
MBP update is very likely, but you won't see Macbook update. processor is limited in quantities and obviously computers with bigger need for faster processor, which is MBP, will be where chips go.
and maybe in this event Apple might present with Adobe for Adobe's upcoming universal softwares.
i don't think Apple will just announce Aperture if they are going to invite guests for a presentation. more than that is coming. maybe Apple projectors. i don't know.
but I know for sure that G5 powerbook is not coming so losers better not cry for that.

Not too many details: would this stream movies already downloaded or let you download/view simultaneously (like view on demand)?

Cross the 8GB black iPod nano with a decent phone, add bluetooth earphones, and maybe even put in GPS, and we have a winner.
Exactly! Just how hard can that be??? All the technology has been available for years. I just dont get what is holding back Apple.

So dose this mean ms can sue apple if they decided to use wifi in ipods ????
I skimmed to this post, so sorry if it has been answered. Does MS own every Wi-Fi license. Just wanted too know.

I think the whining (about notebooks being crap) is the fact that there is so much demand for it that Apple has no time to actually test the product.
It's a good thing that they offer free replacements for those that find defects actual defects in the machines. Usually the first batch is not so perfect, and that goes for all computer manufacturers.
I have 2 macbooks in for repair (they have been being repaired for just under 2 weeks, both have multiple problems) I have spoken to apple on the phone several times to try and get them replaced and they flat out refuse.

It makes sense. iProducts are increasingly becoming ubiquitous, therefore they will become more profitable for malware developers to attack. It's not a McAfee sales pitch so much as it's stating the obvious. Same with Android.

Right. You won't get the full 64 bit native benfits of Leopard without either a G5 or a Core 2 Duo processor.
It'll still run on a G4 just fine.
Yea thanks, I really have no idea what 64-bit and 32-bit is about...all I know is that Core Duo didn't support it...
Now I'm buying a new mac soon- thinking of going with 17inch iMac. Will a 128MB video card be enough for Vista to run perfectly? I want as many features as possible...
